Around 60% of your body is made up of water, so it would make sense for us all to drink enough water, wouldn’t it? Not only this, but water can also help flush out toxins and allows your body to digest and break down food more efficiently. On average, we should be drinking a minimum of 2.5 – 3.5 litres a day!
BUT – sometimes drinking water all day long can be boring – or simply thinking about drinking enough water is simply the least of your daily worries.
3 of our top tips for drinking more water:
1 – Buy an infuser
They’re generally cheap and allow you to add fruits (and veg) to your water to increase the taste but also add vitamins to your water too!
2 – Fill up a water bottle everyday
If you like the idea of fruit infused water to help you drink water, that’s great! If you aren’t quite a fan, at least be sure to buy a water bottle that you will use day-in day-out. Make it a ritual. Fill it up first thing in the morning and continuously throughout the day.
You can also track how much water you drink by how many times you’ve filled up your bottle; then you’ll know whether you’ve hit the daily recommended minimum or not!
3 – Eat more fruit and veg
Lots of fruits and vegetables are made up of mostly water. Celery is made up of around 95% water and watermelon is 92% water, yet only 6% sugar. Eating foods high in water content will not only nourish your body with the vitamins and minerals, but also hydrate your body too.
‘But drinking too much water just makes me need to go to the toilet’
As you start to drink more water, your body will, at first, need you to visit the bathroom more often. But, over time your body will adapt to it and you will begin to resist the urge to need to visit the bathroom as many times throughout the day.
